best vegan protein brands

Here’s a list of the best vegan protein powder brands to consider for your next supplement shop.

Just like with any diet for active people, you can never get enough protein. As vegans we may find it difficult to find protein brands that work for us, with many options containing dairy from whey, or other non-vegan ingredients.

I’ve done the work so you don’t have to. This post will go through some of the top vegan protein brands with links to order it for yourself. I’ll go through some budget friendly as well as more high end, quality brands, and my personal preference.

The protein works

The protein works is one of those brands that have got it done right.

Their plant-based protein powder combines 5 sources of protein, from hemp, brown rice, sunflower, soy and pea.

TPW vegan protein also comes in 9 flavours, from unflavoured to chocolate silk & strawberries and cream. Coming in 4 different quantities, 500g, 1kg, 2kg & 4kg. A fairly cheap option, averaging at round $12 per 500g.

Pulsin

Pulsin is one of my personal favourites. With their range of vegan protein powders with 8 different variations to choose from, including a “vanilla veto” flavour for the ketogenic.

My personal favourite is the hemp protein, which adds a nice, earthy flavour to any protein smoothies. Slightly more pricey, at an average $12 per 250g, and quite limited in terms of quantities to choose from.

MVP

Simple, but effective, MVP protein is available in 4 classic flavours, being unflavoured, strawberry, chocolate, and vanilla. Made up of pea, brown rice and hemp protein, it’s made of 3 sources, similarly to TPW.

This one is better for those on the go, and they sell their products in sachets, with 20g protein per serving. Served in sachets as opposed to scoops, with 12 single servings. This is priced at $29.99 for a pack.

My protein

My protein is a great place to go for vegan protein too, with a lot of options to choose from, including pea, soy, hemp and brown rice selections. You may also choose to opt for their protein water or pre-made protein shake options, which are also available.

If you go for their brown rice option, you can get a great bang for your buck at $23 per kilo. Their pre-made shakes come in a pack of 12, with 11g protein per serving.

Garden of life

Garden of life is considered the god of all protein powders, offering inclusive options from those going for gluten free, to raw vegan enthusiasts.

Their plant-based protein is available in a range of flavours, from vanilla to rich cacao, complete with carbs, fat and even probiotics for easier digestion. Great right? If that wasn’t all, they also don’t include soy in their ingredients, and are also organic!

Definitely on the pricier side, but well worth it, you’re looking at around $43 for a 620g pack.
