Studies have also shown that a diet high in processed foods, whether vegan or the Western diet, will still be high in saturated fats.

Is vegan food too processed?

Although perceived as more processed from an outside perspective, that’s depending on which types of vegan foods you eat regularly. 

For instance, if you look at an aisle of vegan meat alternatives, milks and cheeses, then yes, considering these foods and their ingredient lists, these may be considered really processed.

This can also be said for the vegan snacks available, from baked goods to crisps and sweets. 

With the vast majority of vegan foods being: fruits, greens, beans, grains, legumes, nuts & seeds; a lot of these foods aren’t processed, so it’s all a matter of how you plan your diet. Balance is key when planning a vegan diet for longevity.
